the last of our envelope scraps!

paper fun

we are proud to tell you that this is the last 2,000 pounds of envelope scraps we have! while it is considered recycled it is not post consumer waste. we have been getting a lot of questions as to the exact definition of recycled paper and where our paper fits. we figure that with the volume of paper we have been making and the fact that the more recycled material you can use is better, why not make that switch. while we have always been proud to make our paper from envelope scraps that would be considered 100% recycled we are excited to now offer 100% post consumer waste that will truly come from consumer waste. here is a little help with the definition.

Pre-Consumer Fiber: material collected before it reaches the end user and is mainly from paper manufacturers, printers and converters.

Post-Consumer Waste: material that is collected from end-users and recycled.  Post consumer fiber is the preferred form of recycled materials because it reduces pressure on our remaining forests, saves water and energy, and diverts solid waste from our landfills.

and if your interested in what 20,000 pounds looks like stay tuned! we are excited about a new project that requires enormous amounts of, well, everything, including 20,000 pound of 100% post consumer waste that will be turned into beautiful plantable seed paper!
