also if your in the neighborhood do stop by! the stuff from the national stationery show is starting to arrive! so many cards we do not even have enough place to display them. also begining mid june we will be open on saturdays from 10am to 3 pm! we hope to see you then.

so, things have really been hopping this year. we finished up with our 2.2 million piece order and was not sure where we were going to go from there. it seems that there are people and compinies all over the world that are in need of handmade paper and plantable paper! so why not help them out! because of this we have been looking for a new home for porridge papers and i think we might have found one. it is in the heart of downtown lincoln, a block from the university and next door to the childrens museum. what is so great about this space  beside location is that the papermill will be a seperate space from the letterpress studio and retial section. it is a larger and more effeciant space compared to the building we are in now. it will also allow for more retial, workshops, classes and production! stay tuned as we should have a final answer in the next week or two, and then pictures to follow. in the mean time visit plantableseedpaper.com for updated pictures and a completly new porridge papers web site to follow in the next few months!

if you could be any animal/insect/item in the papermill what would you be and why?: I would be the mouse, just to get on Chistopher’s nerves… hehe

if you could be any circus performer/side show act, which? why?: Fire breather. I always thought it was the coolest thing when i was a kid.

where would you like to be if you were not at work?: At home. Making a pot of soup and trying to keep my cats off of the counter.

favorite joke or riddle?: “Did you hear the one about the girl that got run over by a tractor on her first date?” “She made quite an impression”

if you could be any animal/insect/item in the papermill what would you be and why?: The bust of the sailor that sits on top of the press so I could keep my eye on everyone.

if you could be any circus performer/side show act, which? why?: The bearded lady. Because I’ve always wanted to have a beard. But it would have to be red.

she started out as a wee little coucher and started pulling her own sheets just months afer being hired. it was not long untill we could see that she had managment potential! within less than a year she became our manager. after a few years when we decided to move back to lincoln she could not stand the thought of working anywhere else so she hitched a ride to lincoln and help set up the mill at its current location.

as our current production manager everything must go through her (believe me, if i try to schedule anything with out letting her know…well lets just say it is not good). she has done a fantastic job and has made a great impact on the porridge papers family, after all we all feel like family here. so here is a big thanks to samantha and we look foward to many more years!

while some feel like they could work behind the counters at joann fabrics, others can teach an arts and craft class and others are ready to build a small cottage i think they are all ready to get back to making paper. but we did have a few fun weeks and the addition to the building was worth it!
